info@agrigep.euWe are pleased to announce the Second Symposium on Gender Equality for an Inclusive University and Society, which will take place on 15 November 2024, from 9:00 to 16:30, at UP FM, Izolska vrata 2, Koper.
In today’s globalized world, gender equality has become a civilizational norm, particularly in the societies of the Global North. In the European Union, gender equality is enshrined in legal frameworks, prohibiting discrimination based on sex or sexual orientation. European institutions recognize gender equality as one of the fundamental principles of equality and as crucial for addressing other forms of discrimination.
Despite these advances, gender equality remains a complex issue, particularly within academia. While many gender equality plans highlight that gender equality applies to all, certain groups, such as the LGBT+ community, often remain in the background, marginalized within the broader conversation. The pursuit of true gender equality is not just a matter of policy but touches on the human rights of all members of society. The symposium will explore these themes, with a focus on how academia can promote inclusivity and equity for all.
This full-day event will bring together leading scholars and experts to discuss the state of gender equality in higher education and society. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with the latest research, share best practices, and explore strategies for creating more inclusive academic environments.
